Charlotte Catholic Closes Strong in win over Boone Watauga

The 2023 edition of the John Wall Holiday Invitational started early Wednesday morning with the Charlotte Catholic Cougars advancing in the Wonderland Girls Bracket over the Boone Watauga Pioneers 60-48 behind a strong performance from UNC Signee Blanca Thomas.


The Cougars' 6'5" senior finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds on 10-16 from the floor, proving to be a dominant force at both ends of the floor as well as on the glass. Senior Harper McKain provided excellent supplemental production with 11 Points and 4 Rebounds in the win.


The Pioneers were led by Kate Sears. The junior guard was a magician working with ball-screens, pouring in 19 points and 6 assists, against 2 turnovers. She is ranked as one of the best guards in girls high school basketball and proving it on the John Wall Holiday Invitational stage.


Charlotte Catholic advances to the second round of the Wonderland Girls Bracket, brought to you by 9th Wonder. The Cougars will face the winner of North Pitt and Rolesville, while the Pioneers will await the loser.
