Wilson closes out 2025 Holiday Invite Day 1 with a win against Broughton

The Florence SC Wilson Tigers caps off the opening day of the 2025 Holiday Invitational with a 60-54 win against host team Broughton Capitals. The Tigers held a steady lead, but the Capitals didn’t let them go easy, and took a one point lead into the final quarter. Wilson switched to a 1-3-1 zone during the fourth which was enough to change the Caps offense and propel the Tigers to a win in their first visit to Holliday Gymnasium.

The Tiger’s fight was, not surprisingly, led by the 2025 Gatorade South Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year, junior Josh Leonard. He put up his usual double double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and added 4 assists for good measure.

Junior Jordan Page was the key player for the Capitals, scoring 17 points along with his 11 rebounds. The Caps’ strategy largely revolved around keeping Leonard in check, but unfortunately for the home team it wasn’t enough to find themselves in the win column.

The Tigers have their next game Monday evening at 5pm against Henderson NV Coronado. The Capitals play Saturday at 12:30pm against Garner.
