St. Anne’s-Belfield (VA) wins inaugural Holiday Invitational Game over Raleigh Ravenscroft
The St. Anne’s Belfield Saints traveled from Charlottesville, Virginia for their first visit to the John Wall Holiday Invitational and leave Holliday Gymnasium with a 84-60 win over the Ravens from local Raleigh Ravenscroft.
The Saints controlled the entirety of the first-round matchup, never trailing at any point in the game behind a 20 point first half performance by guard Chance Mallory. The junior had his way on offense finishing the game with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. The Saints also relied on the three point shooting of junior Gabe D’alessandro and sophomore Jayden Brown. The pair of guards each added double digit points from multiple three point field goals.
After a slow start, the Ravens were more competitive in the second half. Ravenscroft's Chance Gladden (25 points) and Jackson Rein (22 points) still managed productive performances on offense for the Ravens.
St. Anne’s-Belfield will resume competition Friday with a Coby White Bracket championship matchup against The Burlington School. Ravenscroft will face off in a 919 showdown against Southern Durham in the Consolation Game.
