St. Anne’s-Belfield (VA) Makes Statement in Win Over Greenfield

The Charlottesville (VA) St. Anne’s-Belfield Saints have already proved their long trek to Raleigh is well worth it in their dominant 76-44 win against the Wilson Greenfield Knights. St. Anne’s Belfield started off the game with an incredible first half, going into the locker room at the half up 22. While the Saints didn’t expand much on their lead in the second half, Greenfield just didn’t have their best shooting game in Thursday’s first round game.

St. Anne’s-Belfield showcased their depth with 4 players scoring in double digits. Their highest scorer of the night was Austin Williford who finished with 20 points to go along with his 10 rebounds. Chance Mallory added 14 points with six of those points coming in two buzzer-beating 3s at the end of each of the first and second quarters.

Greenfield’s very young team only brought one player with previous experience in the Holiday Invitational, Kobe Edwards, who tied Braxton Dubose and Johnny Winborne for the team lead in points with 10 a piece. Edwards also added a team high 4 rebounds.

St. Anne’s-Belfield will play again on Friday, December 27th at 5pm against the host team Broughton. Greenfield will also play on Friday against Ravenscroft at 9:30am.
