What started off as a Orlando FL Southeastern Prep runaway turned into a 63-57 championship win for Geneva OH Spire Academy in their first trip to the Holiday Invitational. Spire’s defense found a way to grind down the Falcons after allowing 16 first quarter points, they held the Falcons to 11 second quarter points and eight in the third while scoring 19 and 22 respectively which proved to be the difference. Southeastern Prep handled the pressure from Spire well early on but ended up with 14 turnovers by the final buzzer.

Spire was led by Junior Guard and Hoop State native King Gibson who scored 16 points. They had two others in double figures highlighted by MVP of the bracket Dorian Rinaldo-Komlan who added 8 rebounds.

Junior Center Obinna Ekezie led Southeastern Prep in scoring with 19 points while Hoop State native CJ Rosser notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. They fought to cut the lead to eight in the middle of the fourth quarter but could not convert on several opportunities to cut into the lead even further.

The road ahead for both teams remains tough which is exactly how both teams want it, evidenced by who they have scheduled. Both teams can carry over a lot of positives from the past four days to help propel them in future matchups. Along with Spires Dorian Rinaldo Komlan’s MVP, Southeastern Prep’s Obinna Ekezie joined him on the all-tournament team with his teammate Beckam Black, who was named Most Outstanding Player.
