Spire Academy of Geneva OH proved their hike to Raleigh worth it in their Saturday night 54-45 win against the Ambassador Christian Lions. The Lions couldn’t seem to find the basket in the first half, shooting 5 for 23 from the field. Their second half proved more successful, as they were able to narrow Spire’s lead to seven going into the final quarter. Both teams had a competitive finish, but ultimately Spire's strong first half was too much to battle back from for the Lions.

Spire junior Darrell Davis spearheaded their efforts scoring 19 points. Providence College commit Aiden Derkack was also essential in the victory, with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Ambassador Christian’s efforts were led by sophomore RJ Moore, who had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists for his team. Senior Nick Haney also put up a fight, contributing 11 points.

Both teams will play again on Monday, with Spire Academy going up against Greensboro Day at 6:30pm while Ambassador Christian will face off with Millbrook at 2pm.
