One of high schools’ longest win streaks comes to an end as the Pam Pack of Washington defeat the Rams of Reidsville 78-74 behind a big night from senior guard Shimere Garris who finished with a team high 33 points.
What looked like another blowout win for the Pam Pack quickly turned in the third quarter as UNC-Greensboro commit Dionte Neal erupted for the Rams first 12 points of the half. The Rams scrapped and clawed their way to cut the lead to a single possession with the ball. After a missed opportunity, Washington forward Jarryn Payne sealed the victory with a breakaway dunk to bring his point total to 16.
Dionte Neal put on a clinic for the Rams scoring 42 points which puts him in a tie for 11th all time for points in a game. Sophomore guard Paul Cauthen Jr added another 16 of his own but the early first half deficit was just too much to overcome.
Reidsville will have an extremely quick turnaround at 9:30 AM tomorrow against Southeast Raleigh while Washington will look to build upon their big win as they face Arden Christ School at 2pm
tomorrow.
