Pittsboro Northwood charges through Durham Orange in opening Holiday Invitational game

The Pittsboro Northwood Chargers, last season’s NCHSAA 3A state runner up, takes down former conference rival the Durham Orange Panthers 71-52 in their first round matchup in the Devonte Graham Bracket of the 2023 John Wall Holiday Invitational. 


The chargers offense took over early in the game behind UNC commit Drake Powell. Powell  was essential to the Chargers offense with 17 points and 4 assists. Sophomore Cameron Fowler added a game high 18 points off the bench with Beau Harvey and Fred Whitaker putting up double digit points as well with 11 and 12 respectively.


Orange was led by sophomores Coleman Cloer and Mason Robinson. Cloer finished the game with a team high 16 points and 7 rebounds while Robinson tacked on another 12 points.


Northwood is back in action Friday at Broughton against Rockingham Richmond in a Devonte Graham semifinal game. Orange will face off against Durham Jordan in a consolation game.
