Oak City Prep Unable to Recover from Disappointing First Quarter in DME Academy Win

Although the majority of this game involved fairly even scoring between teams, Daytona Beach (FL) DME Academy held the Bears from Raleigh Oak City Prep to only 3 first quarter points in a 51-35 loss for the Bears. Oak City Prep found scoring at the start of the second but couldn’t make up the deficit.

The win for DME Academy was largely in part to junior GiGi Battle, who earned herself a double double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. DME finishes in 3rd place in the Drew Effect Bracket.

Oak City Prep had several players who contributed to their attempted comeback, namely senior Kaylin Mckoy who finished her day with 11 points. Sophomore Kareka Goodwin also added 8 points for the Bears.
