NCGBB Secures Berth in Drew Effect Championship Game
Both the Durham NC Good Better Best National Eagles and the Raleigh Oak City Prep Bears began their bracket play in the Holiday Invitational on Friday morning after each playing in a showcase game on Thursday with the Eagles coming out on top 55-38. The Bears entered the locker room at the half down 5 but the Eagles held them to only 15 second half points.
Though the Eagles were on the losing side of their showcase game, they got the win when it mattered most and will play for a championship on Monday thanks to a strong showing by sophomore Amayah Barnes who finished with a team high 13 points on top of 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Samiyah Barker also capped the game off with 10 points and 7 rebounds of her own.
Oak City Prep junior Sami Ward paced the Bears with a game high 16 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
NCGBB will play again on Monday, December 30th at 3pm against S3 Academy in the Drew Effect Bracket Championship game. Oak City Prep will take on Ravenscroft in the Drew Effect third place game on Saturday, December 28th at 12pm.
