Morris Catholic survives slow start to remain undefeated after battle with Mallard Creek
The Denville (NJ) Morris Catholic Crusaders came back from a 7-point first quarter deficit to win 59-49 in their Holiday Invitational debut over the Charlotte Mallard Creek Mavericks.
The Crusaders Mia Pauldo showcased her scoring ability putting up 23 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Guard Kennedy Brown’s 12 points also helped put the Crusaders on top.
Mallard Creek was led by their junior guard Elle Stone who finished with a team high in points with 17 to go with 7 rebounds. Olivia Robertson added 11 points of her own alongside 8 rebounds.
The Morris Catholic win advances the Crusaders to the second round of the Wonderland Bracket on Friday. Mallard Creek is seeking to get their first win in the 2023 Holiday Invitational on Friday against Chapel Hill.
