Mallard Creek Storms Back From Slow Start to Defeat DME Academy
After trailing by 8 at the end of the first quarter, the Mallard Creek Mavericks used the final three quarters to chip away at the deficit to knock off DME Academy 60-57 in the Frances Pulley Bracket.
The Mavericks were led by the backcourt of Kiara Anderson and Elle Stone. Anderson, the junior point guard, shot an impressive 9 for 12 from the free throw line and finished the game with 20 points. Stone had a double double, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
DME Academy was led by senior point guard Asya Lara Barnes. She hit five three pointers on her way to 17 points in the contest. Sither Ubaka also added a double double for DME with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Mallard Creek will compete for the Francis Pulley bracket championship on Saturday, December 28th at 7:30 PM.
