In a showcase series game at the 51st annual Holiday Invitational, the Kernersville Bishop McGuinness Villains knocked off the Charlotte Independence Patriots 51-44 in a tightly contested battle featuring two of the HoopState's top NCHSAA programs.
The villains scored 32 of their 51 points in the first half, propelling them to a 7 point lead at the halftime break. They were led by Kiersten Vamer who finished the game with a team high 18 points on only 8 field goal attempts. Vamer was a frequent visitor to the free throw line finishing the game 8-9 from the charity stripe. Some supplemental production for Bishop McGuinness was provided by Jenna Moore with 10 points, Morgan Aho with 11 rebounds, and Claire Sullivan who had 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The patriots hung around all game but simply couldn't quite get over the hump.
