IMG Academy bullies their way into Saturday night win against The Burlington School

The Bradenton FL IMG Academy Ascenders came out swinging in their game against The Burlington School Spartans (TBS) for a 62-44 win. The Ascenders fought their way to an 8 point lead at the end of the first quarter, but this seemed to only light a fire under the Spartans, who came back to close the gap to only 3 points during the third. This momentum screeched to a halt entering the final quarter as the Ascenders kept the Spartans to a mere 3 points, sealing the win for IMG.

IMG Academy had a powerful showing all around the board, with 4 players putting up double digit points. Boston College commit Trey Beamer had a standout 8 assists to complement his 14 points. Pittsburgh commit Chase Foster had a double double, scoring 12 and adding 12 rebounds. Other Pittsburgh commit Jermal Jones Jr. and Stanford commit Aziz Olajuwon downed 14 and 10 points respectively to help the team secure a tally in the win column. 

TBS senior Geren Holmes led his team throughout the game, totalling 19 points to finish. Junior Kamari Nicholson also put up a fight with 10 points of his own.

Both teams are back at it Monday, with TBS playing at 12:30pm against the loser of the Davidson Day-Southeastern Prep game, and IMG playing at 8pm against the winner.
