Greensboro Day knocks off national powerhouse IMG Academy, claim Coby White 3rd Place spot

The Greensboro Day Bengals leaned on another strong defensive performance to secure a 69–59 victory over the top 20 ranked Bradenton FL IMG Academy Ascenders. Quick rotations and constant ball pressure allowed the Bengals to take control before halftime and they never looked back. 

Greensboro Day shot an efficient 9-for-15 from three-point range, with its talented backcourt leading the way. Sophomore guard Micah Gunter knocked down three triples and finished with a game-high 24 points, while Marty Giant added 14 points on 3-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc.

IMG Academy suffered its second loss of the tournament and fourth of the season, as the Ascenders struggled to find offense efficiency throughout the contest. Boston College commit Trey Beamer was a bright spot for the Ascenders, finishing with 17 points in the loss.

Both teams will look to carry their tournament experience into conference play in 2026.
