The Wilson Greenfield Knights shut down the Henderson NV Coronado Cougars hopes of taking a trophy home in a 64-61 overtime win for the Day’Ron Sharpe championship. Coronado dominated the majority of the game as Greenfield had almost 28 minutes of game time between leads. The Cougars led by as much as 13 between the Knights’ leads. The teams entered the break with Coronado up 11 and again at the end of three but coach Rob Salter’s team wasn’t going down without a fight.

The Knights flipped a switch in the fourth and came back in an intense 22-11 fourth quarter to tie things up at 52 points and take it to overtime. The overtime set the championship in stone, with the Knights once again outscoring the Cougars, this time 12-9.

The Knights game starred tournament MVP and Elon commit Kobe Edwards, who had 20 points and 6 rebounds for his team. His efforts weren’t alone though, and sophomores Johnny Winborne, Braxton Dubose and Cameron Moore all put up points in the double digits as well, sealing the teams win.

The Cougars were once again led by dynamic duo junior Munir Greig and senior Amare Oba, who put up 14 and 17 points respectively.

Both teams will take a short break before returning to their regular seasons in the new year.
