The Wilson Greenfield Knights are off to their best start since the 2019-2020 season thanks to a strong second half to get the win over the Petersburg VA Crimson Wave 62-51. The intensity was high from the beginning as each coach received technical fouls and multiple key players found themselves in early foul trouble.

After trailing 29-27 in the first half, the Knights used a big third quarter aided by junior guard Donovan Dickens. The Knights began the quarter on a 7-0 run and never looked back. Petersburg was hot from three early, knocking down four of eleven shots in the first half but the Greenfield staff extended their zone which led to Petersburg missing all eleven deep balls in the second half.

Greenfield got contributions from a bevy of players, led by Dickens’ 16 points, sophomore forward Braxton Dubose added 10 points, and senior point guard Kobe Edwards finished the game with 12 points.

Senior forward and Oklahoma State commit Latrell Almond continued his offensive dominance for Petersburg with 22 points and 12 rebounds but it just wasn’t enough in the end.

The Crimson Wave dropped their third straight and will look to get back on track tomorrow at 11am against the loser of Durham Southern High School and Warrenton VA Highland School. Greenfield coach Rob Salter praised the effort and intensity his team played with as they prepare for their matchup tomorrow against the winner of Southern-Highland at 5pm.
