The Gaston Christian Eagles opened the John Wall Holiday Invitational at Southeast Raleigh High School with a 73-50 win over the Westover Wolverines in a showcase game.

The Eagles jumped out early and never looked back, taking a 15-8 lead into the second quarter. Westover struggled offensively through much of the first half entering the locker room facing a 34-13 deficit. The second half didn’t fair much better for the Wolverines as Gaston Christian started the second half on an 8-0 run before the teams began trading baskets for the remainder of the game.

Brooklyn Twitty finished the game the leading scorer for the Eagles with 20 points in the win.

Westover returns to action Saturday at 12pm when they face off with Queens Grant High School in another showcase game while Gaston Christian concludes their 2025 Holiday Invitational at 2:30 on Saturday against Grimsley.
