Garner Uses Strong Third Quarter to Win First Round Game of Holiday Invitational

The Garner Magnet Trojans scored 23 in the third quarter in their 63-57 victory over the Washington Pam Pack. This story of the game was back and forth runs but ultimately it was the Trojans who came out on top. The Pam Pack took a 33-27 lead to the locker room at the half and even had an opportunity down three with 14 seconds to play when Jacob Daniels’ 3-pointer did everything but fall through the basket. Garner grabbed the rebound and Kingston Beale made a three of his own to ice the game.

Garner showed their depth with three players finishing with double digit points and a fourth who had nine. Junior Geren Holmes led the Trojans with 21 points adding 6 rebounds and fellow junior Kingston Beale had 15 with 9 rebounds.

The Washington Pam Pack was led by Junior Jarryn Payne with 22 points and 9 rebounds, however several other players contributed to the impressive showing for the 2A school; including Javon Williams (14 points/9 rebounds), Chaise Smith (11 points/5 assists), and Jacob Daniels (9 points/4 rebounds).

Washington will play again Saturday December 28th at 1:30pm against the loser of OTE Cold Hearts-Raleigh Word of God on Friday at William Peace University. Garner will also play Saturday December 28th at 8pm against the winner of Cold Hearts-Word of God.
