Davidson Day Takes Down Farmville Central in Day 2 of Holiday Invitational.

Fourteen hours proved to be a little too quick of a turn around for the Farmville Central Jaguars who lost 68-61 to a strong Davidson Day School Patriots team. The Patriots jumped out early and Farmville used a big second and third quarter to bring it back within striking distance. The fourth quarter ultimately didn’t go their way as the Patriots advance to the Day’Ron Sharpe fifth place game.

Davidson Day big man, junior William Stevens, kept Farmville on their toes by putting up a huge 27 points on top of 12 rebounds and 2 assists. Sophomore Lincoln Vinson had 21 points of his own, along with 6 rebounds and 2 assist.

Farmville’s first two games of the 2024 edition of the Holiday Invitational seemed to follow a script; start slow, make adjustments for the second quarter and get a lead, then shots just don’t fall in the fourth quarter to come out on the losing side of a great basketball game. The Jags were once again lead by senior guard MJ Williams who finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Senior forward Xavier Shepard added 13 points of his own as well as a game high 13 rebounds.

Davidson Day will play again Monday, December 30th at 12:30pm against Ravenscroft. Farmville will play at William Peace University December 30th against Greenfield in the seventh place game of the Sharpe bracket at 6pm.
