Concord Cannon second half surge too much for host Raleigh Broughton
After a slow start, the Concord Cannon Cougars strong second half guided them to a 78-53 win over the host Raleigh Broughton Capitals in the Devonte Graham Bracket of the 2023 John Wall Holiday Invitational.
Broughton took a first-quarter lead, and held on until halftime. With the score deadlocked at 30, Cannon came out of the halftime break with a full court press that held Broughton to 23 points in the second half.
Cannon led by Miami commit Austin Schwartz who finished the game with 20 points. Junior Isaiah Henry as had himself a day, racking up 17 points of his own to go with 8 rebounds.
The Capitals saw a big game from their freshman guard Jordan Page who finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds.
Both teams get a rest day on Thursday and are back in action Friday. Cannon will play the winner of Farmville Central-Reidsville in a semifinal matchup while Broughton will get the loser in a consolation game.
