Burlington School Defeats Southern Durham, Headed to Third Holiday Invitational Title Game
The Burlington School jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in their physical 65-53 first round win over Southern Durham in the first boys game of the 2023 John Wall Holiday Invitational.
TBS showcased their abilities to stretch the floor, shooting 53% as a team from behind the arc. Senior guard Zion Walker led TBS in scoring with 19 points to go with 5 assists and 4 steals. Walker found success attacking the basket while also going a perfect 3-3 from three-point range. Freshman King Gibson added 15 points of his own off the bench while leading the team in plus/minus.
While Southern Durham trailed for the majority of the game, star forward Jackson Keith did everything possible to keep his team in the game. The junior led his team in both scoring and rebounding, ending the game with 24 and 11 respectively.
TBS will play St. Anne's-Belfield in the Championship Game of the Coby White Bracket on Friday at Broughton High School. Southern Durham will look to bounce back in the Consolation Game of the Coby White Bracket on Thursday against Ravenscroft at William Peace University.
