The Raleigh Broughton Capitals found themselves down 10-2 to begin the game before Jordan Page got going and led them to a day 2 win over the Garner Trojans 61-54. Page was scoreless in the first quarter but found his rhythm in the second finishing the game with a game high 27 points while pulling down 13 rebounds. Senior guard Hudson Fitzgerald chipped in with 11 points.
Yet another good start but poor finish for Garner who led the majority of their first game and and couldn’t overcome a lackluster middle two periods to get back in the win column. They were led by senior guard Darius Whitner who scored 15 points as well as junior Don Jackson who added 10 points. Garner has lost its fourth of their last six games but coach Kent Bloms expects his team to get over the hump on the back half of the schedule as they head to conference play.
Broughton moves on to the 5th place game of the Day’Ron Sharpe bracket on Monday at 11am against Southern while Garner is set to face Petersburg (VA) for 7th place at 9:30am Monday as both teams will enjoy a day off on Sunday.
