Bishop McGuiness Goes Wire to Wire in Win Over Fairmont

The Kernersville Bishop McGuinness Villains got their first win of the 2024 Holiday Invitational Friday in a 54-41 contest against the Fairmont High School Golden Tornadoes. The Villains came out of the gates swinging putting up 17 and 16 points in the first and second quarters respectively, resulting in a 16 point lead at the half. Fairmont was able to hang with the Villains in the second half, but just couldn’t make up the ground they lost in the first.

Bishop McGuiness’s leading scorer was, to no one's surprise, NC State commit Adelaide Jernigan. She led her team with 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Junior Claire Sullivan had 13 points as well, in addition to 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Fairmont was led by a pair of freshmen Lyric McNair who had 11 points and 6 rebounds and Aaliyah Duran who had 9 points and 3 assists.

Bishop McGuiness will play again in a showcase game against Westover on Saturday, December 28th at 3pm.
