Greenfield tops Raleigh Christian for seventh in Warren bracket

CARY -- The rubber match was all Wilson Greenfield. The Knights (15-5) defeated the Raleigh Christian Eagles 72-63 in the seventh-place game of the T.J. Warren Bracket in a matchup of teams who have already faced each other twice this season. Raleigh Christian won the first game 66-65 Nov. 10 and Wilson Greenfield returned the favor a month later, winning 65-60. In this game, the teams were close early before the Knights picked up separation to start the second. Wilson Greenfield took a 19-18 lead into the frame, then pushed it to double figures with a 9-0 run including a Kyshon Atkinson layup and Matt Kirby putback. The Knights eventually took a 42-34 lead into the break. Hampton Evans started the third quarter with a 3-pointer for Wilson Greenfield, who never trailed. The Knights pushed their advantage to as many as 18 in the second half. For the Knights, Evans had 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks, Atkinson had 13 points, Nik Edwards added 11 points and six rebounds and Kobe Edwards provided 10 points, five steals and four assists. For Raleigh Christian, Jakel Powell had 22 points and Nic Anthony added 18 points and seven assists.
