GIRLS: Purcell Marian in Wonderland title game after downing Panther Creek

CARY -- The Wonderland championship game is set with non-North Carolina teams.
Purcell Marian defeated Cary Panther Creek 59-49 to set up a championship match between the Cavaliers from Cincinnati, Ohio, and Morris Catholic from Denville, N.J.; that game will be played Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Raleigh Broughton High School. The Catamounts will face Apex Friendship Thursday in the third-place game at Cary Academy.
Olivia Tucker started the game with a steal and layup for Panther Creek, but Purcell Marian took the lead late in the frame after a Brittany Campbell free throw. The Cavaliers' Jayda Mosley hit a pair of 3-pointers on the way to a double-digit advantage, one the Catamounts closed to 32-25 by halftime.
Purcell Marian never trailed in the second half, extending its advantage to as many as 19.
For the Cavaliers, Dee Alexander had 28 points, 12 rebounds and two steals, while Mosley added 14 points and four assists.
For Panther Creek, Taylor Barner had 16 points, five rebounds and three assists and Madisyn Jordan added 12 points and eight rebounds.
